Hello, I’m Kirsty, a Scot’s lass that lives in the woods surrounded by the very best of Mother Nature.

Artist, writer and environmentalist. Since childhood, she has played a huge part in my life and prior to having my children, I was a Marine Biologist. As a child, encouraged to run free, I was more than a little feral. A wee wildling that was happiest outdoors and in bare feet.

As a young woman the doctrine corseted and caged me; and I stopped running free. But with age comes Crone and I have since replaced constraints with the sable beat of my wild. The shadow that trots behind me is definitely four footed.

The natural world and creativity are the same beast. Along with a vivid imagination, I have always been a creative, it second nature. When I wasn’t outside, you would find me with paints in hand or my nose in a book. I am fifty odd now and not much has changed.

For twelve years I ran my own successful business, the renowned Covet Bespoke Milliner. But it was time for a change. My decision to stop coincided with a long held dream. That manifestation led me here to An Taigh Dubh (Scot’s Gaelic for The Black House) and there is no doubt, I am home.

It was here Foggy Bummers and my Wild Art was borne, it was a fleeting idea, and with the wolves, ran with it. From the outset this place cast her spell, surrounded by the best of Mother Nature, how could it not. I've been here three years and yet to decide if I am enchanted or rewilded, perhaps it's a bit of both.
I see the alchemy of eco-printing as the sum of everything. Like mycelium, it is a continuous energy exchange, the collective consciousness.

My husband and I have dedicated ourselves to this piece of land. Endured and made sacrifices. Honoured the old ways. However, no good deed goes unseen and with each passing season she leaves a little more breadcrumbs for me to follow. Subliminal suggestions that just scratch the surface. Fleeting introductions. Figments that swim through my subconscious and steal my sleep. The company of kin, the creatures that visit as ghosts, pay me no mind but matter the most.

From the outset, home has always felt like it had a greater purpose. Rather than a destination, it was destiny. Happiness was borne a twin, all who joy, must share it. Wild Art is me sharing the secrets she has shown with you. There in the turn of leaf, the Universe hidden underneath. From plant to paper, it is simply the magick of Mother Nature.

Foggy Bummers is on a quest to create sustainable art that connects and makes all humanity kin. It is my vision that you see nature through her eyes. Perhaps then, we will all care a little more for the very thing that sustains us all.
